We're back with ten minutes left to play in the third quarter, the Malfs trailing 24-nothing go back on offense.

Here's the snap, the QB drops back to pass, throws to the outside but excellent coverage by the defense, no chance for the receiver to control the ball.

The Malfs QB is now 6-of-12 for only 10 yds. Neither offense has been very efficient through the air so far.

es ist eigentlich ganz einfach.  leider ist es nur direkt auf den penalty-karten aufgedruckt und steht nicht auch im regelheftchen:

• das annehmen einer kicking penalty bedeutet immer rekick bzw down replayed (ausser es heisst automatic first down fuer die offense)
• returning penalties werden immer am ende des returns assessed

kicking penalties bringen also in der regel nicht wirklich viel -- das waere durchaus etwas, das man anpassen und am ende des returns draufschlagen koennte.

Wenn die aktuellen NFL-Regeln assessen vorsehen, sollten wir das auch jetzt so tun, egal was unser veraltetes Regelheftchen sagt. Wir haben ja auch schon zweimal Offside assessed...

The QB takes the snap, fakes a handoff, rolls out to the right, he throws, has a receiver and a First... THE BALL IS LOOSE! But it bounces out of bounds.
The defenders signal incomplete, the refs are conferring. It would be a 7-yd gain and a First Down in case of a fumble. Now let's hear the ruling.

Ref: "The receiver did have full control of the ball before the ball came loose. Therefore, it's ruled a fumble which went ouf of bounds. It's a First Down."

So, after more than 36 minutes, the Malfs have finally converted a Third Down, how about that?!

...BREAKS A TACKLE, CUTS TO THE OUTSIDE, and it takes to tacklers to finally force him out of bounds but he has the new First Down at the 30-yd line - how about that?!
A 12-yd gain on a play that appeared to spell another disaster for the Malfs but this time they were lucky. This might be a huge momentum shift just in time for the Malfs.
