The Seagulls stick with the run, while again the Moles defense obviously was waiting for a pass play. This is not a big surprise, considering the success the gulls had when they threw the ball. And it looks like they made a bad decision on changing their tactics, as their o-line - dominant as they are when protecting the quarter back - are unable to open any significant holes. The running back tries his luck on the outside, but he is forced out of bounds with just one yard gain. This will be a long way to go on third for the Seagulls.

For some reason the Seagulls offense has gone from a powerhouse to mostly harmless within a few plays. After a scoring drive they made it across midfield quickly, but cannot get anything going once they reach the 33 yard line. The short pass is batted down by the defender, fourth down.

Now the Seagulls place it into the hands - or should I say the leg - of their kicker. They have some confidence in him, as they are going to try this 50 yarder. But wait, it's a fake! They catch the Moles off guard and complete a pass for five yards. He turns upfield, this could be six on the fake. But at last someone's paid attention on the Moles defense and he gets to him quickly. The Seagulls fall short of a new set of downs and they turn it over to the Moles.

ich bin grad nicht sicher ob du 3 notches oder nur 1 von der Uhr nehmen musst, da ja turnover on downs ist. ich glaube aber nur 12 sec.

boah, sehr mutig in dieser situation einen fake zu versuchen – die chance auf ein neues first down muesste hier bei 12.25% gelegen haben, das field goal waere immerhin zu 30% reingegangen...

Das ist richtig.

Danke für die Korrektur. Ein "normaler" Option Pass hätte übrigens auch mit dem für den Fall vorgesehenen Defense Call zu einem neuen First Down geführt. Den Fake Call habe ich auch für ausgesprochen mutig gehalten.

Key war schließlich noch "Dodge Charger R/T".

20% beim fake?  wie das?  der option die haette ja noch ein zweites mal geworfen werden muessen, wenn der erste versuch gereicht haette, und es haette dann der durchschnittswert beider wuerfe gezaehlt.  ich komm auf eine chance von 49:400 fuer den fake, und 6:20 fuer das field goal.  anyway...

Ähm, nein.

Die Chance, dass Du mit dem ersten Option Die Roll die neun Yards erreichst ist 4/20, als 20 %. Aber dann muss der Option Die ja noch einmal geworfen werden, und der Schnitt aus den beiden Yardages wird herangezogen.

Die Chancen, mit dem zweiten Würfel die Bestätigung des First Downs zu holen sind dann also:
P9: 4/20
P15: 7/20
P25: 19/20
TD: 19/20

Du landest somit bei genau den 12,25 %, die igor schon vorgerechnet hat

Die Wahrscheinlichkeit einen Fumble zu produzieren liegen nebenbei bei 9,75 %, also fast so hoch, wie die für das First Down...

The Moles are starting their possession from with a jumbo set, obviously they will go with a run. At least the Seagulls fell for it, as they put eight men in the box. Instead they throw a screen, and it almost looked like he was gonna go all the way for a touchdown. But a linebacker got there and forced the ball loose. It sure looked like a fumble, but the refs rule it an incomplete pass - a questionable call, if you ask me. Still, second down coming up.

Das ist der Punkt den ich nicht kannte, nun, jetzt kenn ich ihn.

Damn ... bei Pass Defense wäre das die Chance auf den TD gewesen ...

Ist natürlich schlimm, aber Du brauchst nicht ganz so traurig werden - TD wär's keiner gewesen.

A second time in a row the Moles fail to convert on third. It's not like their offense wouldn't play well, but the Seagulls takes away whatever the Moles throw into play. Unless they go with a very risky fourth down conversion attempt, this will be a Seagulls ball again..
