... the quarterback flings the ball immediately to his fullback on a screen, but he only manages to step out of bounds at about the line of scrimmage, no way he could have gotten any further than that.  So it is third down again, and this might be a crucial play for the Wasps to keep their momentum alive.

... the quarterback takes a five step drop, gets the time from his o-line to wait for the play to develop, and finds his open receiver who ran a crossing route all the way over the field.  He is pushed out of bounds immediately, but it has been worth a gain of nine yards!

A really nice play, and, believe it or not folks, this is the first regular first down of today after almost ten minutes into the game.  It couldn't have been at any better moment for the Wasps.  This gives them now four opportunities to cover seven more yards and get into the end zone.

... fires to his slot receiver just inside the end zone, but the safety from behind manages somehow to bat the ball away at the very last instant!  My goodness, that quick reaction really saved the Reds now, as he was the only defender around.  This brings up the next third down for the Wasps, and the Reds need one more play for a successful goal line stand.

... he gets around the first defender, has an open way to the end zone, and - NO, he can't keep his balance and steps out of bounds at the four!  So, after covering three yards in just as many attempts, the Wasps are now facing a tough decision at fourth down.
